Nice to meet you!
Oh, hello!
My name is TJ.
I'm a retired aeronautical engineer, a dad, a husband, a pilot, and I'm the only vinyl-spinning DJ in Elberta, Michigan.
MY LOVE FOR MUSIC
As a youngster I enjoyed listening to music.
All kinds of music;
from classical to big bands to rock & roll to pop, and everything in between.
In my teens I would spend hours and hours in our basement outside of Cleveland, Ohio listening to new and old records we had. During my college years in Angola, Indiana I had my records in the dorm and continued to expand my collection.
When I married my current spouse, we combined our collections and expanded it. This included 8-track tapes, cassette tapes and eventually CDs. As things went digital, I used an app to digitize most of the vinyl for my laptop and server to store them on.
However, I was always drawn back to the original vinyl. There is something about playing the vinyl, even with scratches and skips, that takes me back to my youth.

THE CABBAGE SHED
In 2015, we decided to purchase a restaurant in Elberta, Michigan called The Cabbage Shed. My wife's family has had property in Elberta for many years, and she spent many hours at The Cabbage Shed during her college years in Ann Arbor.
The Cabbage Shed is known not only as a restaurant and pub, but also as a live music venue.
So, one day, I had the idea to bring all of our vinyl to the restaurant to share with customers, and from that idea, Vinyl Vednesday was born.
And so was DJ TJ.
YOU PICK 'EM, I PLAY 'EM!
Yep, that's my motto!
I really love watching the people thumb through all the vinyl. Their eyes light up as it brings back memories, and they talk to me about listening to the albums for the first time. It's been wonderful to build these connections. I even have some "groupies" that show up every week to enjoy the pure sound of vinyl.
Vinyl Vednesday has become such a hit at The Cabbage Shed every week that I now have people asking me to do events! Who would have thought?
And so, a new adventure begins!
